Join us as we celebrate April as National Poetry Month at The Demuth Museum. We will join together in an intergenerational gathering, to read and write poems of Spring.
We will begin with Charles Demuth’s poem - IN THE FIELDS - and move on to listen to and to sound out lovely poems from other well known American poets. Both young and old. We will discuss what makes these poems so captivating; allowing ourselves to put pen to page and craft poems of our own.
An open mic will also be taking place from 6-7 that evening to either read what you created at our workshop, or to bring something you have already prepared. Don't feel like reading? You can illustrate your poem instead!
Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the greening of the earth, to partake of poems old and new, and to allow the grandeur of springtime and the written word to open us up to wonder and awe.
This workshop will be facilitated by local poets Glinda and Tom Johnson-Medland of word hive: a space for poets. wordhive.org
Please feel free to bring one or two of your own favorite seasonal poems to read aloud - your own poems or those of our American bards.
